Puissance first timer wins at the Dodson & Horrell Bolesworth International Horse Show

3rd July 2022 By

Saturday saw the fourth day of the Dodson & Horrell Bolesworth International Horse Show, which was Ladies Day at the show. In addition to many ladies dressed to impress, the nail-biting Puissance drew crowds, and there was dog agility and a fun family dog show as well as the BETA Safety Hub where riders- including Ben Hobday- and visitors learnt CPR and jaw thrusts and also could ride Racewood’s mechanical dressage horse

First time Puissance competitor, Mark Edwards, won the eVetDrug CSI3* Puissance

on Montreuxs Tale, who had also never jumped a Puissance before. The duo won by jumping 2.19m to bag the top spot. “It was the first time for both of us. A new experience, and what a way to do it. The horse has jumped Nations Cups and he won the Queen’s Cup last year. He’s a really good Grand Prix horse.” Montreuxs Tale will jump in the Dodson & Horrell CSI3* Grand Prix 1.50m on Sunday.

James Smith clocked up another victory, this time in the Bloomfields Horseboxes CSI3* 1.40m with 10 year old bay mare, Holly, owned by Nicola Jamison. “This class was the main aim for Holly this week. She jumped great in the first round, and I watched a bit of the jump off and watched Anthony and thought he would be difficult to beat, so I took the same lines as him, and I was just slightly quicker.” James finished on a score of 33.45 seconds, with second place going to Anthony on 33.50

The Bolesworth CSI1* 1.30m was won by Red Morgan on True Blue III, who also won the Bolesworth CSI1* 1.30m yesterday with the same horse. “He felt fantastic today. He was fresh in the first round, even after two days jumping, so it was nice to do a steady clear and settle him back down, and then he was super eager in the jump off.”
