Kevin Takes Centre-Stage at Osberton International

5th October 2021 By

KEVIN McNab galloped to success in the main BEDE CCI3*-L at Osberton International Horse Trials with Scuderia 1918 Humphreys.

The Guildford-based rider has been in great form this year and his championship run continued at the Nottinghamshire-venue.

Kevin and the grey stallion, battled to the end with a superb clear in the showjumping to overhaul overnight leader Izzy Taylor and Carolines Air KM.

Said Kevin: “He made my life easy, he is one of those horses you hop on and ride for 10 minutes and away you go.

“He’s very intelligent and really easy to train.  We’ve had him for three years and progressed him through the grades.

“We really haven’t done much with him, we did a couple of novices and took him to Le Lion.

“He’s never really looked back, every event he goes to he just improves and has the intelligence of a much older horse.

“Our plan would be to bring him out and do a couple of Intermediates and work towards a four star. He find’s the job super easy and definitely has world class potential.”

Claiming second place was Brazilian rider, Marcio Carvalho Jorge and Castle Howard Casanova, the eight-year-old, grey gelding putting in a consistent performance throughout.

Taking third was New Zealander, Caroline Powell and Greenacres Special Cavalier who jumped a good clear round to move up the leader board.

In the Investec CCI2*-L it was the turn of Toots Bartlett and Freestyle R, her ride since June this year who jumped into the spotlight against leading stars in the sport.

Said 20-year-old Toots from Somerset: “This is by far my biggest win and it’s just fantastic.  He’s 11-years-old and came from Toby Piggott, this is really only our third full event together.

“It’s taken me a while to get with him in the show jumping so I was so delighted today and couldn’t have asked for more.”

Toots held second after dressage and cross-country, moving up to the winner’s podium after a fence fell for Susie Berry and Gortin’s House.

Claiming second was Will Rawlin and The Dominator, another rider over the moon with the result and looking forward to bigger things.

Said Will: “I was absolutely thrilled, he can lack confidence and it was his first long format so to finish on his dressage score was amazing.

“The conditions on the cross-country were testing at times but he got stuck in and had his ears pricked all the way.”
