Reaseheath student events attract high profile coaches

23rd February 2018 By

Reaseheath College students have been getting hands-on experience of running high profile equine events as part of their course at the college’s Equestrian Centre in Cheshire.

The students, who are studying for their Level 3 Extended Diploma in Equine Management, planned and ran a very successful lecture demonstration on the training of young horses featuring international showjumper James Shore and HOYS Champion Danny Carroll. Both are popular local young horse producers.

As well as attracting an enthusiastic and knowledgeable audience to the equestrian centre’s indoor arena, the students raised almost £600 for The British Thoroughbred Retraining Centre. Reaseheath has several horses on loan after retraining by the charity, which aims to rehabilitate and further the welfare of thoroughbreds once they have finished their racing career.

The students, who ran the demonstration for their event management module, were Chloe Sankey, Ellie Ashton, Beth Lawler, Harry Moore, Maddie Lee, India Matson, Grace Browning and Shannon Sutton.

Susan Scott, Trustee of The British Thoroughbred Retraining Centre, said: “This was a fantastic event which was both informative and fun. I was really impressed with the students’ mature and professional attitude.  On behalf of the charity I’d like to thank them very much for the funds they raised, and to wish them the best of luck in their future careers.”

The next student run event at Reaseheath Equestrian Centre is on Thursday 15 March with legendary international show jumper Ernest Dillon FBHS, who will present “Developing your horses’ technique over fences.”

Highly qualified, Ernest has competed nationally and internationally and is one of the few Show Jumping Specialist Fellows of the British Horse Society. He is a UKCC Level Three Showjumping Coach, an Accredited British Showjumping Coach and a British Eventing Master Coach.

He conducts clinics worldwide and has an impressive success rate with riders from Novice level to those competing at International Grand Prix dressage and Four Star Eventing level.

Doors open at 6.30pm for a 7pm prompt start. Entry: £10. Buy your tickets at:
