In this issue we caught up with four of the leading names in show jumping and eventing to find out what they look for in their riding boots.
Q. What is your preferred choice of riding boot?
A. Jay Halim answers: I was recommended the EGO7 boots and after trying them I loved them straight away as they are very stylish and comfortable, especially as I wear them all day every day whilst riding and teaching. I loved the boots so much that I now have a pair in each lorry for when I go out competing and I even have a spare pair at home. They look elegant and fit really well.
Q. What style of boots do you choose and what made you choose that style?
A. Robert Murphy answers: My preferred choice is the black EGO7 Orion Long Leather Boot as I like the style of laces used and I always ride in long boots. They are perfect for competitions as they are stylish and smart, as well as for training at home as they are so comfortable to wear all day. I also feel that they offer a little more flexibility and give around the ankle, perfect for when you’re in an out of the saddle all day.
Q. What is the fit of the EGO7 riding boots like?
A. Ben Hobday answers: They are a well-fitting boot that gives me a close contact feel with my horse whilst in the saddle. The boots give me that made to measure feel without having to actually have the boots made to measure; with their wide range of sizes there should be a boot to fit everyone.
Q. What is the wearability of the boots like and what are they like to ride in?
A. Brier Leahy answers: The boots are extremely wearable; they are subtly smart enough for the hunt field yet look elegant and sleek out competing. Comfortable yet supportive to ride in they don’t sag and slip down at the ankle which some do! They are great value for money when I wear them so much and they still last a long time. They are a really durable riding boot and I would not swap them for any other boot.
Q. What is your favourite feature of the boots?
A. Brier Leahy answers: My favourite feature on the boots is the spur grips on the heel, they keep the spur perfectly in place so you don’t have to cut your circulation off so to make your spurs tight enough to stay up!
